  • I have always loved running and have done a bunch of races ranging from 10 to 21km, but always on the road. Last year a friend invited me to a trail race in Washington, and I couldn’t say no, so with two weeks to go, I started to train. It was such a fun weekend camping at the start/finish line with the rest of the runners and their support teams. It was advertised as a 25km race but being new to trail running, I did not realize that things are usually as they are advertised. I went out far too hot and had an amazing start to the run but the tables were about to turn. I didn’t utilize the aid stations and around 23km, I ran out of food and water. No problem, only 2km to go. Not! It turns out that this was a 28km course and most of the elevation was in that last 5km and I was without food or water and alone in the desert. I some how managed to pull my dehydrated and poorly trained body across that finish line and ingested most of the aid station snacks and drinks. I was extremely dehydrated for the next 24-48 hours but I was HOOKED!

  • I was now hooked on Trail Running and got it in my head that I wanted to do a race every month. I almost accomplished it and ran a race every month from April to November with the exception of August when I was recovering from IT Band issues.

    What races did I do?

    • Ancient Lakes 25km

    • Run like a Mother 21km

    • Tackle the Toad 20km

    • Raven Ridge 15km

    • Movement is Medicine 15km

    • The Backyard Ultra - DNF at 100km

    • Trail do Trabulo 23km in Portugal

  • Last year was so fun and successful without properly training so this year I wanted to see what I could actually accomplish if I tried. I hired myself a coach, a local pro runner and got to work. I have dealt with a couple different injuries along the way so I am not exactly where I was hoping to be but still excited for this summer goals.

    • Smith Rock Classic 50km in May

    • Tackle the Toad 20km (Again)

    • For fun, running the Rockwall in July with friends

    • Fat Dog 100km in August

    • Nelson Backyard Ultra in October where I hope to pass my 100km distance from last year!
